What you get, and why it is the short way round

A customer who has to search for you will not leave a review. Not out of unkindness. They open Google, type your name, find three businesses that sound alike, and put the phone away. The direct link skips all of it: one tap or one scan, and the star rating and the text box are already on screen.

Google makes this link for every listing. It is simply buried. This page looks up your listing, builds the link from it, and turns the link into a code. Three things come out:

The link

For texts, emails, invoices and your email signature. Anywhere a customer is already holding their phone.

The QR code

A plain PNG, sharp enough to print. Drop it into a menu, a receipt or a flyer you already have.

The counter card

Your name, the code and one line of instruction, laid out and ready for the printer.

Where the code earns its keep

Put it where somebody is standing still and already pleased. That is a short list, and the till is at the top of it.

  • At the point of payment. The job is done, the customer is happy, and their phone is in their hand.
  • On the invoice or receipt. For trades, this is the till. It arrives the moment the work is finished.
  • On the table or the mirror. Restaurants and salons have a customer sitting with nothing to do for a minute.
  • On the van, the bag or the box. Slower, but it keeps working after you have left.

A code on a card does less than a link in a message you send yourself, and it is worth being honest about that. The card waits to be noticed. A text that says “thanks for today, here is the link if you have a minute” gets opened. Use both. The full routine is in how to get more Google reviews.

Two rules that keep your reviews from being removed

Do not pay for them. Google's review policy prohibits offering money, discounts or free goods in exchange for a review, and reviews gathered that way can be taken down. A sign that says “10% off for a review” puts the whole listing at risk for the sake of a handful of stars.

Ask everyone, not only the happy ones. The same policy forbids steering unhappy customers away from reviewing. One code, shown to every customer, is the safe way to do it. When a poor review does arrive, a calm answer is worth more than its absence: how to respond to negative reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Google review QR code generator free?

Yes. There is no signup, no email and no watermark. You search for your business, and the link, the QR code and the printable card are yours to download.

Does the QR code expire?

No. The code holds Google's own review link for your listing, with nothing in between, so it keeps working for as long as the listing exists. There is no redirect of ours that could be switched off.

How do I find my Google review link without a tool?

Sign in to your Google Business Profile, search for your business on Google, and choose "Ask for reviews" (some accounts show "Get more reviews"). Google shows a short link and a QR code you can copy.

Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?

No. Google's policy prohibits offering money, discounts or free goods in exchange for reviews, and reviews gathered that way can be removed. Ask every customer, and ask without a reward attached.

My business does not appear in the search. Why?

The tool reads public Google listings. Add your city to the search. If the listing is new, unverified or suspended it may not be public yet, and it has to be visible on Google Maps before a review link exists.

What size should I print the QR code?

About 3 cm (1.2 in) square is a practical minimum for a code scanned from arm's length, and larger is easier. The printable card is laid out so the code is large enough to scan from across a counter.
